Court remands woman for allegedly posting phonographic videos of victims online

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, remanded a lady, Ogechi Njaka, in Suleja Correctional Centre for allegedly posting the phonographic videos of her victims on her Facebook account

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered her remand after she pleaded not guilty to a five-count charge preferred against her by the Inspector-General (I-G) of Police.

After Njaka’s plea of not guilty, I-G’s lawyer, Victor Okoye, sought a trial date.

Njaka’s counsel, Samuel Ihenseken, did not object but applied that a bail be granted to his client.

Justice Abdulmalik, who ordered that the defendant be remanded in the correctional centre, adjourned the matter until June 5 for trial and bail application.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday has ordered the remand of hip hop musician, Terry Alexander Ejeh, also known as Terry Apala, for a charge of naira abuse.

Justice Akintayo Aluko ordered his remand in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, Lagos, till May 5, 2025, when his bail application would be heard and determined.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had arraigned Ejeh before the court on a one-count charge of abuse of the naira by matching on it whilst dancing during a social event at Madison Place, Oniru, Lagos Island.

Counsel to the EFCC, Sulaimon Sulaiman, then asked the court to allow the charge to be read to the defendant so he could take his plea.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, after which Sulaimon asked for a trial date and the remand of the defendant in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Centre.

Man rapes 3 sisters in Ibadan

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan on Thursday ordered the remand of a 34-year-old man, Femi James, in a correctional facility for allegedly raping three sisters and one other.

James, whose address was not provided, was charged with rape.

The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.

She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

She thereafter adjourned the case until June 19, for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Olarotimi told the court that the defendant committed the offence between 2017 and 2025, at Akobo area of Ibadan.

Lawyer, client shot dead after court session in Anambra
The police command in Anambra has launched manhunt for suspected killers of a legal practitioner returning from the court, after securing bail for a defendant in a murder case.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Awka.

Ikenga said the gunmen also gunned down two others who accompanied the lawyer but one survived.

He said that the three victims were returning from High Court II Ekwulobia in Orumba North Local Government of the state when the incident occurred.

He said that the legal practitioner had bailed a defendant in a pending murder case at the Court not knowing that they were trailed as they left the court.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police (CP) in Anambra, Ikioye Orutugu, today led a team of senior officers, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and others on a visit to the crime scene at Egbebelu village.
