More than two-thirds of young Aussie guys are turning to masculinity influencers, and it's having an impact on their mental health.

The Movember Institute of Men's Health surveyed 3,000 young men globally and found those who regularly engage with the content feel more empowered and optimistic in the short term, but suffer higher levels of psychological distress alongside increased risk taking.

Report author Dr Zac Seidler says getting rid of masculinity content on social media because it is "dangerous" is unhelpful, as there is no causal evidence to suggest that's the answer, and we need to instead listen to and empower young guys.

We spoke to young men for their tips on how you can take control of what you're viewing to prioritise your wellbeing.
