Advocates say gender-based violence is being ignored during the election campaign.

Angela Lynch, executive officer of the Queensland Sexual Assault Network, told Radio National Breakfast that there has been silence.

"It sends a message to our community, because it hasn't been a priority, that it's really not a national priority as [previously] stated," she said.

Australia's two major political parties may be "resting on their commitment to the national plan", the domestic violence prevention advocate added.

While she said a national plan is important in providing "a blueprint for action", she underlined that it is "simply not enough".

"We know that the violence is increasing. We know that the reports of rape and sexual violence are increasing every year.

"Four women were killed last week in relation to gender-based violence.

"We really need to double down on our efforts … we need to find new solutions if we're going to end this in a generation, which both parties and all governments around Australia have promised."

When people start untagging themselves from issues, you will know that they have done something wrong. We have seen the play before. Let us even assume someone edited your picture, why arresting others who didn’t do anything wrong and if you are claiming they have done something wrong, why not just explain what they have done wrong? You didn’t serve them letter or send them an invite and the next thing you are using police maybe because your uncle/brother/cousin is one because I still don’t understand the involvement of the anti-narcotics officers in all of this issues except a family/friend trying to help in oppressing.

At least 44 people were killed in Gaza after Israeli forces opened fire near aid distribution areas in two separate incidents, according to witnesses and hospital officials. One took place on a road south of Wadi Gaza, where Awda hospital reported 25 deaths and 146 injuries, including 62 in critical condition. In Deir al-Balah, Al Aqsa Martyrs hospital received six bodies from the same incident.⁠

Witnesses described fire from tanks and drones as people approached aid trucks. “It was a massacre,” said Ahmed Halawa. Another witness, Hossam Abu Shahada, said drones circled overhead before gunfire erupted, leaving bodies on the ground. In Rafah, a separate incident occurred as crowds gathered at the Shakoush area. Nasser hospital reported 19 deaths and 50 injuries. “We seek food and the occupation opens fire and kills many,” said Ayman Abu Joda.⁠

The Israeli military has not commented. Philippe Lazzarini of the UN’s refugee agency called the aid system “an abomination that humiliates and degrades desperate people.” A spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office said restricting access to food and essential services could amount to a war crime. Gaza’s health ministry reports more than 56,000 Palestinians killed during Israel’s 21-month campaign, with over half listed as women and children.⁠
