China is launching a nationwide initiative to make artificial intelligence (AI) education mandatory for all students aged six and above, starting September 1, 2025. The move is part of a broader plan to position the country as a global leader in AI technology by fostering early exposure and foundational skills in the field among young learners.

Under the new policy, students will receive a minimum of eight hours of AI instruction each year. This will be delivered either as standalone courses or integrated into existing subjects like science and information technology.
