As an Olympic gold medalist and Champions League winner, Almuth Schult was one of the top goalkeepers in women’s soccer, but she believes her career ended early because clubs were reluctant to sign a player with children.
The 34-year-old announced her retirement in March, three months after her contract ended with the Kansas City Current in the National Women’s Soccer League in the US. 
In an interview published by Germany’s Kicker magazine on Tuesday, she said she felt she could have played another “one, two years at the highest level” and that she believes being a mother was “the main reason” talks didn’t work out.
 
Schult gave birth to twins in 2020 and a third child in 2023.
 
“I was already out of contract after my second pregnancy,” said Schult, who played 66 times for the German national team. “No club believed I could still help, even though I had already proven it after my first pregnancy.”

President Donald Trump criticized Fox News after its latest poll showed a majority of voters disapproved of his performance. ⁠

The survey, conducted June 13–16 among 1,003 registered voters, found 54 percent disapproved of Trump’s job performance, while 46 percent approved. Trump responded on Truth Social, saying: “It’s why MAGA HATES FoxNews, even though their anchors are GREAT,” and called the poll “crooked.”⁠

The poll also showed a decline in support for Trump’s handling of key issues. On border security, 53 percent approved and 46 percent disapproved—a drop from April’s numbers. ⁠

On immigration, 46 percent approved while 53 percent disapproved. On inflation, just 34 percent approved, while 65 percent disapproved. The poll’s margin of error was ±3 percentage points. Trump rejected the results, writing, “They are always wrong and negative.”⁠
