Japan has achieved a major technological milestone by successfully generating electricity in space and transmitting it to Earth. Using an experimental satellite, sunlight is collected by solar panels, converted into electricity, stored in an onboard battery, and then sent wirelessly to Earth using microwaves. This project is part of Japan's efforts to develop space-based solar power systems (SBSP), which could one day provide a continuous and clean energy source unaffected by weather or nightfall. The breakthrough is a huge step toward solving future energy needs with renewable technology from space.
