Did you know that during the dark days of SEGREGATION in the United States, Black families were forced to pay TAXES that built schools their own children could not enter? While white children sat in shiny classrooms with new books and warm heaters, many Black kids sat in crumbling buildings, sometimes with no desks, no heat, and torn books passed down like leftover scraps.

This painful TRUTH is not just a forgotten piece of history — it’s proof of the strength and sacrifice that Black communities made just to claim a BASIC RIGHT: EDUCATION. Even when the SYSTEM locked them out, they built their own schools, taught their own kids at home, and stood up to unfair laws.

Stories like this remind us that every time you walk freely into a classroom today, or send your child to a good school, someone before you PAID THE PRICE for that freedom — sometimes twice. Once with their taxes, again with their struggle.

This is why we must never let these stories fade. HISTORY is more than dates and old photos — it’s the sacrifice, sweat, and HOPE that built the world we live in today.

Crowds filled the streets of Tehran on Saturday for the funeral of top Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists killed during a 12-day war with Israel. Among the dead were Revolutionary Guard chief Gen. Hossein Salami and missile program head Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh. Caskets were driven through Azadi Street as mourners chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.” State media reported over 1 million attendees, though that figure could not be verified.⁠

The funeral was attended by senior officials, including Gen. Esmail Qaani and Gen. Ali Shamkhani, who was wounded in the initial Israeli strike. Shamkhani said he awoke for dawn prayer to find his home destroyed. “Suddenly everything around me had become ruins,” he said. In total, 60 people were honored, including women and children.⁠

Israel claims it killed 30 commanders and 11 scientists and struck eight nuclear sites. Iran launched more than 550 missiles in response, killing 28 people in Israel. President Donald Trump said talks with Iran could resume, but Iran’s parliament suspended cooperation with international inspectors. “If President Trump is genuine about wanting a deal,” wrote Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, “he should put aside the disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards Iran’s Supreme Leader.”⁠

The Supreme Court lifted a lower court’s restriction on the Trump administration’s policy of deporting migrants to third countries, even when those individuals have no ties to the destination. The decision allows the administration to resume removals like a recent blocked flight to South Sudan, where immigration officials had stationed personnel in Djibouti while awaiting legal clarity. The majority provided no explanation, prompting a sharp dissent from the Court’s liberal justices.⁠

Justice Sonia Sotomayor, joined by Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson, criticized the ruling, writing that the Court was “rewarding lawlessness.” She added, “Apparently, the Court finds the idea that thousands will suffer violence in farflung locales more palatable than the remote possibility that a District Court exceeded its remedial powers.” The case originated from a challenge filed by noncitizens alleging due process violations, with U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy issuing a nationwide injunction in April.⁠

Solicitor General D. John Sauer described the judge’s order as lacking a legal foundation and interfering with national security efforts to remove “some of the most heinous criminals.” The administration has argued that these deportations are lawful and critical to enforcement. While the injunction did not mandate return to the U.S., it required that migrants be given the opportunity to raise legal objections before removal. The matter now returns to an appeals court.⁠
