Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has raised the alarm that only one town out of 300 is remaining for Boko Haram terriorist to take over Marte Local Government Area of the state.

The governor who raised the alarm on Sunday when he visited the area appealed to the Federal Government to deploy decisive strategies that would ensure that Marte town does not completely fall to Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents.

Zulum, who visited the area on Saturday, assessed the challenges faced in Marte, while also exploring sustainable solutions to foster stability.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, the governor emphasised that his visit to Marte was to foster community cooperation, resilience and continuous support to the security agencies, stating “Marte was resettled about 4 years ago, but unfortunately, over the last three days, it was ransacked and was displaced again.”

A member of the House of Representatives from Zamfara State, Rep Aminu Jaji has decried the worsening security situation in his constituency, painting a harrowing picture of bandit attacks, mass kidnappings, and general lawlessness that have left communities devastated and residents displaced.

Briefing journalists at the National Assembly, the lawmaker, who previously chaired the House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, said over 200 attacks have been recorded in communities across Kaura Namoda Local Government Area alone, including Dayo, Banga, Gabaki, Korea, and Madura.

“Just two days ago, 60 people were abducted in Banga. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 30 million naira. Out of those abducted, 10 were killed, and the fate of the remaining 50 hangs in the balance,” he said.

2027: APC, PDP, LP involved in coalition to stop Tinubu’s re-election — Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed plans for a major political coalition involving the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Labour Party (LP) to confront what he described as the ‘incompetent and inefficient’ government of President Bola Tinubu.

Atiku made the announcement while addressing a delegation of stakeholders from the Kogi East Senatorial Zone, led by former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba, in Abuja.

The meeting also focused on addressing regional insecurity and fostering unity in the North.

Speaking at the event, Atiku expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s worsening security crisis, blaming the Tinubu administration for its lack of political will to address the issue.

On April 22, 2025, a tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir claimed the lives of 26 people, including 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. The attack, which targeted tourists, is being described as one of the deadliest in the region in recent years. A militant group called "Kashmir Resistance" claimed responsibility, opposing the settlement of non-locals in the region.

In response to the incident, India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed the media and announced a series of strong decisions. Meanwhile, security forces have launched a massive manhunt to locate the attackers, believed to be linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba group. Intelligence agencies have released sketches of the suspects, and operations are ongoing.

This attack has prompted the Indian government to call for an all-party meeting to ensure a unified and decisive national response. The incident highlights the persistent security challenges in the region and the urgent need for global cooperation against terrorism.
