Running a business in Nigeria is not for the faint-hearted.
Running a company while managing six businesses? Even harder.
But if anyone is built for this journey, it’s me.

Yesterday, at the African Choice Awards, I was honored with the Female Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 award — and as I stood there receiving it, all I could think about was that eight-year-old girl who started it all.

At eight years old, after losing my father, I made a promise to myself — and to him — that no matter what, I would finish school.
With no parent to fall back on and no relatives stepping in, I turned to what I had: resilience, determination, and a drive to survive.
I began supplying mangoes and fruits from my father’s house to women in the market at wholesale, raising the funds I needed for my education, one sale at a time.

That young girl, who learned to fend for herself when the odds were stacked against her, has come full circle.

Today, I run multiple businesses, lead a company, and continue to chase the dreams that little girl dared to dream.
This award is not just a recognition — it’s a reminder: where you start doesn’t define where you’ll go.

US state declares June 14 ‘Igbo Day’, gives reason

The state of North Carolina in the United States has formally declared June 14 as Igbo Day, paying tribute to the longstanding contributions of the Nigerian south-east community to the social and economic fabric of the state.

In a proclamation issued on June 12, Josh Stein, governor of North Carolina, hailed the vibrant Igbo community as a key part of the state’s multicultural identity. Stein noted that Igbos have lived in North Carolina for more than half a century, distinguishing themselves across a wide range of fields including education, medicine, law, public service, entrepreneurship, and technology.

Meet Ufot Ekong, the Nigerian student who cracked a 30-year-old math problem while studying in Japan.

At just 24, he became the first person in 50 years to graduate with First Class Honours from Tokai University, earning a perfect CGPA of 5.0.

Fluent in English, Yoruba, French, Ibibio, and Japanese, Ekong stood out as the Overall Best Graduating Student in his class.

By age 29, he had completed his PhD, cementing his place as one of Nigeria’s most brilliant young minds.
