Critics pointed out the cost of the parade—estimated between $25 to $45 million—as wasteful, especially in light of ongoing budget concerns facing the Department of Veterans Affairs. A majority of Americans, according to polls, felt the parade was an unnecessary use of taxpayer money.

Morocco is facing international outrage after reports surfaced that the country plans to kill up to three million stray dogs as part of a massive “street clean-up” campaign ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which it will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
